Update schedule
ICD-10-CM is updated twice a year. The major update takes effect on October 1 and defines the fiscal year; a secondary update can take effect on April 1. This site is rebuilt from the official files for each release. Code selection is driven by date of service, so codes from a prior fiscal year remain correct for encounters within that year.
What this site does not include
- CPT codes. CPT is copyrighted by the American Medical Association and requires a licence. It is not reproduced here.
- The Official Guidelines text. We link to the CMS-published PDF rather than reproducing it.
- Payer-specific policy. Whether a code is billable under ICD-10-CM is a property of the classification. Whether a particular payer will reimburse it is not, and must be checked against that payer’s policy.
- ICD-9-CM crosswalks. The General Equivalence Mappings were frozen in 2018 and CMS publishes no current file, so mappings would be misleading.
Corrections
If a page disagrees with the official release, the official release is correct. The derived signals on this site — billable status, specificity warnings and replacement suggestions — are computed from the source files and are intended as decision support, not as a substitute for the Tabular List and the Official Guidelines.
